Instant WebKiosk is a suite of free and refined "live" (no installation required: boot is performed from USB keys) browser-only (only the browser interface will show up) operating systems based on Linux Debian and designed for use in web kiosks, multi-user "web workstations" (cafès, offices, schools, hotels), secure and private personal Internet browsing and digital signage deployments.
Instant WebKiosk flavours.
Instant WebKiosk/UB, Unrestricted Browsing, designed for web kiosks, multi-user web workstations and secure personal browsing:
Instant WebKiosk/UB is a fully customizable operating system for Internet browsing purposes, which protects privacy: users can change its settings but after a reset the operating system defaults to original values (except for persistent settings: network, localization, video, sound and home page configurations persist across reboots) and users' informations are completely destroyed. Closing browser window also resets system - in a less secure but quicker manner.
It makes use of Google Chromium as default Internet browser and it features audio support, video files support, Adobe Flash support, PDF and images viewing, office files and compressed files support; it features full "i18n" (internationalization) including CJ input methods.
Instant WebKiosk/UB supports printing (plug&print for most common USB printers - network printers need to be manually set) and both wired (with DHCP or static IP) and wireless networks in order to access the Internet. Network parameters, as well as any other system configuration, can be set using an user-friendly web interface.
See Instant WebKiosk/UB home page.
Instant WebKiosk/EDS, Easy Digital Signage, designed for digital signage installations on (even diskless) PCs:
Instant WebKiosk/EDS displays a full-screen view with locked navigation, restricted to the page specified. There is no way to stop it or escape this view but rebooting the machine. After the reset, the operating system defaults to original values except for persistent settings: network, i18n, video, sound and digital-signage related configurations persist across reboots.
It features full HTML5 support (Firefox or Chrome view), Adobe Flash support and a very useful on-screen virtual keyboard for touch devices. Instant WebKiosk/EDS supports both wired (with DHCP or static IP) and wireless networks in order to access the Internet. Network parameters, as well as any other system configuration, can be set using an user-friendly web interface.
See Instant WebKiosk/EDS home page.
Instant WebKiosk/YTRC, YouTube Remote Controller:
Boot Instant WebKiosk/YTRC: you will enjoy a full-screen YouTube view which can be remote controlled by your smartphone or another PC in the local network.
See Instant WebKiosk/YTRC home page.
Please note that Instant WebKiosk/EDS for Raspberry Pi project is suspended, please don't ask. IWK for PC (both IWK/UB and IWK/EDS) donors will also receive the last stable full version of Easy Digital Signage for Raspberry Pi (with full SSH access to personalize the OS) as a gift.
