If you are having trouble getting a Raspberry Pi there are still a ton of great projects you can do with the pico.
In this video Jeff Geerling uses a Raspberry Pi Pico W as a garage door alert with his home system. He didn’t write any code and the set up is all internal without subscriptions, cloud accounts or the like.

Now my wife doesn’t get angry at me for leaving the garage door open all day!
