UPDATED GUIDE: Adafruit NeoPXL8 FeatherWing and Library

But wait, there’s more! In addition to bringing ESP32-S3 support, Adafruit_NeoPXL8 1.2.0 introduces a new class, NeoPXL8HDR. Best suited to multi-core chips (Raspberry Pi RP2040, ESP32-S3), this adds gamma correction, frame blending, 16-bit color components (48-bit RGB, 64-bit RGBW) and temporal dithering (giving the illusion of finer NeoPixel PWM control, especially useful at lower brightness levels). It makes NeoPixels buttery-er!

NeoPXL8HDR tags along as part of the Adafruit_NeoPXL8 1.2.0 library; no separate installation needed.
